General

What is the Midline?
The Midline is Cleveland's largest-ever industrial redevelopment — a 350-acre corridor on the near east side being transformed into a business district and greenway. It will include a 2-mile multi-use trail, four new parks, and a modern employment hub designed to create 4,700 good jobs for Clevelanders.
Where is the Midline located?
The Midline is situated between Downtown Cleveland and University Circle on the near east side, stretching from Euclid Avenue to the Opportunity Corridor. It runs through the neighborhoods of Hough, Fairfax, Central, and Midtown.
Who is behind the Midline?
The Midline is a partnership between the Site Readiness for Good Jobs Fund, which is leading land acquisition and business district development, and LAND studio, which is leading greenway design, public space, and community engagement. The project is a cornerstone of Mayor Bibb's Cleveland ERA initiative.
When will the Midline open?
The Midline is being developed in phases. Site remediation and land assembly are already underway, and the master plan will be completed this summer. Construction and opening timelines will be shared here as they are confirmed.
Is the Midline a done deal or is it still being planned?
Both. The land for the business district has been assembled and is being prepared for redevelopment, and businesses and development partners are already being recruited to bring good jobs to the area. At the same time, the Midline’s trails, parks, and public spaces are still being planned, and community input will continue to shape the project. Residents will have ongoing opportunities throughout the summer and beyond to share ideas on trail and park design, learn about future job opportunities, and participate in other ways. Check the Community Page for ways to get involved.

For Residents

Is the Midline for people who already live here?
Yes — first and foremost. The Midline is designed to create good jobs, green space, and connections for residents who call the near east side home. Community involvement is built into the planning process, and a Community Steering Committee is being established to ensure resident voices shape the project.
Will the greenway be free and open to the public?
Yes. The Midline Greenway will be free and accessible to everyone — designed for walkers, cyclists, and transit riders of all ages and abilities.
How can I get involved or share my input?
Community engagement is an active part of the master planning process happening right now. Visit our Community Page to find upcoming events, public meetings, and ways to make your voice heard.
Will the Midline bring jobs that near east side residents can actually get?
Creating good jobs is a core commitment of this project. The Midline is designed to create over 2,000 family-sustaining jobs with a deliberate focus on connecting near east side residents to those opportunities. Workforce development and local hiring are priorities — more details will be shared as programs are confirmed.
Will the Midline displace people or change the neighborhood negatively?
The Midline is being developed on long-vacant, polluted industrial land in the heart of Cleveland’s near east side. The goal is to add to what already exists in these neighborhoods, not replace it. Community leadership and shared prosperity are foundational commitments of the project, and residents are being meaningfully involved in shaping what gets built and how. Shared prosperity is a key pillar of the Midline, and project team members are exploring how residents can directly share in the wealth generated by this new investment. More information to come.

For Developers

How do I express interest in developing on the Midline?
Reach out directly to the Site Readiness for Good Jobs Fund through our contact page. They are actively seeking developers and partners who share the Midline's vision for job creation and community investment.
What incentives are available for developers?
The Midline offers a range of incentives and site-ready infrastructure designed to make development as straightforward as possible. Contact the Site Readiness for Good Jobs Fund directly for current incentive information.
What kinds of businesses are a good fit for the Midline?
The Midline Business District is designed to attract employers across advanced manufacturing, food and beverage production, research and development, and other production-oriented industries that create good, accessible jobs for Clevelanders. The district is not intended for low-job-density uses like data or distribution centers or for industries that pollute the environment. Businesses that share a commitment to local hiring, community investment, and environmental sustainability are especially encouraged to explore the opportunity.
